People who have Apple Health (Medicaid) insurance coverage will once again have to verify their eligibility every year. You can help make sure they stay covered.
The Washington Health Care Authority (HCA), which oversees Medicaid in Washington, is resuming their normal operations effective April 1, 2023. That means Apple Health recipients will be receiving notices from the state over the next 12 months asking them for eligibility information to ensure they can renew their coverage.
How you can help
The next time you or your staff see a patient with CHPW Apple Health, make sure their contact information on file with CHPW is up to date so they don’t miss any important communications from us about their health coverage.
Also make sure they know about the state’s resumption of Apple Health renewal requirements.
If they need to renew, let them know CHPW staff can assist with the process. If they are no longer eligible, we can also help find other low-cost health insurance, such as an Individual & Family plan on the Exchange with premiums as low as $10 a month…maybe even $0 depending on their income.
Have them call us at 1-866-907-1904 (TTY: 711), 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Thanks for all you ‘re doing your part to make sure all your patients stay covered!
Toolkit Resources to Help
Community Health Plan of Washington has put together a toolkit to help them—and you—make sense of what’s going on and what their options for health care might be. These resources are approved by the state’s Health Care Authority and can be used both online and off. Feel free to share with other partners as well.
CHPW’s website has detailed instructions to walk Apple Health recipients going through the renewal process. And, they can always call our friendly staff.
Educational videos
These videos explain in broad terms what redetermination (renewal) is and how Apple Health recipients should prepare, as they could be getting notices over the next 12 months. The videos can be played in a lobby display, put on your website, or shared directly with clients.

We’ve created a simple resource to help your organization’s staff understand what’s happening with redetermination (renewal). Please share at staff meetings, with managers, and front desk and customer service staff.
