LGBTQ+ health
You deserve a plan that treats your whole health. That includes every part of you—emotional, physical, and mental—and embraces the communities you belong to.
Community Health Plan of Washington’s (CHPW) coverage includes several benefits geared toward LGBTQ+ communities.
Gender-affirming treatment
CHPW provides coverage for gender affirming care such as primary care, hormone therapy, speech therapy and mental health services.
Other medically necessary gender affirming treatments are covered directly by Apple Health using your ProviderOne services card. Services must be provided by an Apple Health enrolled provider and require prior authorization.
You can find more information about Apple Health trans health benefits online at hca.wa.gov/transhealth.
Mental and behavioral health services
Sadly, members of Washington’s LGBTQ+ community still experience bias and isolation, which can have adverse effects on mental, emotional, and behavioral health.
CHPW members have access to a range of mental health services that include:
- Individual or group counseling
- Inpatient and outpatient treatment
- 24/7 Nurse Advice Line
- Prescription medication

Community-based services
Often, the things that make the biggest difference to your health happen outside the doctor’s office. CHPW’s Community Programs and Case Management can help connect you with local resources for food, shelter, and job training.
Our Case Managers provide individual support to help you meet your health goals. They can help you schedule doctor’s appointments, fill out paperwork (ex: for disability), apply for jobs, and much more. If you have questions, please contact our Specialty Case Management team at 1-866-418-7004.
