On January 1, 2018, new billing codes were released around the Psychiatry Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) for Medicaid and Medicare. Collaborative Care is an important strategy in integrating behavioral health services into medical settings and is the model used in the CHPW Mental Health Integration Program (MHIP).
In 2018, CMS expanded the CoCM Medicare codes to FQHCs and RHCs and revised the rates for this service. A summary of the current Medicare guidelines can be found on the AIMS Center website. These new codes include Medicaid codes for providers in Washington (including FQHCs and RHCs) and the expansion of these services for FQHCs and RHCs for Medicare patients. The final guidance for Medicaid can be found on the HCA website, see latest version of the Physician-Related Services/Health Care Professional Services Billing Guide in the Provider billing guides and fee schedules page (see Collaborative Care Guidelines).
An attestation form is required for billing for the new codes. This form can be found on the HCA website under the Forms & publications page, search for 13-0017. The form needs to be sent to the HCA at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to billing for these codes.
