What is health insurance and why do I need it?

Health insurance is a plan (also known as a “policy”) that helps pay for your doctors’ visits, hospital bills, and drugs.

What is Apple Health?

In Washington state, there is a free or low-cost health insurance program called Apple Health, also known as Medicaid, for people who earn below a certain income level.

Apple Health Expansion is similar, but available with certain immigration statuses.

What is Apple Health Expansion?

Apple Health Expansion is the name of a new state-wide program to provide health care coverage to people age 19 or older with certain immigration statuses and who earn below a certain income level.

The enrollment limit for Apple Health Expansion has been met for all age groups. Applications are still being accepted for future consideration.

Live in Washington and are age 19 or older.
Have income under 138 percent of the federal poverty level.
Do not qualify for other Apple Health programs based on immigration status or medical needs.
Are not in the 5-year waiting period to be eligible for Apple Health.
