Annual Provider and Staff Workshops

CHPW’s Provider Relations Department will be hosting our annual workshops in May this year. Our annual workshops are tailored to cover topics related to your day-to-day operations. We invite participation by providers, clerical/administrative and clinical staff: referral coordinators, billers, medical records, front desk, medical assistants, office managers and etc. Please look for an invitation coming to you soon. UW Psychiatry and Addictions Case Conference series (UW PACC):

UW Psychiatry and Addictions Case Conference series (UW PACC) is a free CME-accredited program designed to expand the mental health and addictions care capacity of health care professionals, especially in remote, underserved areas of Washington. The series is appropriate for primary care providers including MDs, ARNPs, PAs and psychiatrists willing to engage in a proven model of distance learning.

Each session will include a 20-minute educational presentation from the year-long curriculum, followed by in-depth case consultations between community providers and a panel of experts in mental health and addictions at UW. The goal of UW PACC is to develop a regional peer learning and support network for treating mental health and addictions that will ultimately result in better patient care.

We invite you to participate, and encourage you to bring some of your challenging cases to the discussion by submitting a Case Consultation. You may join at any time, and attend as regularly as you wish.

The Partnership Access Line (PAL)

PAL employs child psychiatrists and social workers affiliated with Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) to deliver telephone-based mental health consultation services to primary care doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants throughout Washington. Offered Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm: toll free 1-866-599-7257. Funded by the Washington State legislature.


Perinatal Psychiatric Consultation Line:

Do you have a patient with mental health needs during pregnancy and postpartum? Faculty members of the UW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences with expertise in perinatal mental health are available to provide telephone consultations, recommendations, and referrals to community resources. Offered Monday through Friday, 3-5pm: (206) 685-2924.


Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Reminder

To bill for SBIRT, providers must be approved through the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Providers must complete a four-hour training course and submit proof of their certification through ProviderOne in order to be considered an SBIRT provider and bill for related services. HEDIS season is upon us and we have roughly one month remaining of medical record review! We appreciate your dedication to our retrieval project as we work to capture all of the important care and coordination that our CHCs and Affiliates provide to CHPW members. Smoking Cessation

CHPW partners with Optum to offer Quit for Life, a tobacco cessation program for all adult members (18 years and older). Quit for Life provides phone counseling and nicotine replacement therapy for qualifying members. Members will create Quitting Plans and work with their Quit Coach to achieve them. Replacement therapies like Chantix can be sent directly to the member’s home with their provider’s approval. This is a free benefit for all CHPW members. Members may be invited to participate in the program if they have been identified as a tobacco user either via claims or Health Appraisal results. The Quit for Life program is completely voluntary.

Providers are also encouraged to refer their patients to the Quit for Life program. Enrollment is easy, simply go to or call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669). The member’s insurance information will need to be provided. For further information on this program, please visit:
