Patient Safety
At Community Health Plan, we've put strict measures in place to improve your safety and the competence of the care you get under our plans. These measures include:
- Clinical coverage criteria that guide how we decide which care is medically necessary.
- Clinical practice guidelines that help providers know when to use certain treatments and what problems to look out for.
- Prior authorization list shows which services and equipment need approval by Community Health Plan before you get them.
- A pharmacy system that helps identify and prevent dangerous drug interactions.
- Rigorous evaluation of health care providers to ensure they have the right education, skills, and background.
- Inspections of clinics, hospitals, and provider offices to ensure safe conditions.
- Prompt, thorough investigation of member complaints.
- Continuing improvement of services and systems through our quality improvement programs.
- Encouragement of both members and providers to join the LeapFrog Initiative, which promotes patient safety. Learn more at www.leapfroggroup.org.
- Ongoing patient safety education for both members and providers.
- Providing eligible members with a free bike helmet, health book, and/or car seat as part of the Community Health Plan Children First program.
