HIPAA 5010 After January 2012
The federally mandated HIPAA 5010 compliance date was January 1, 2012, for all CMS-covered entities. HIPAA electronic health care transactions include electronic claims, remittances, referrals, and eligibility. On or before January 1, 2012, all CMS-covered entities were expected to have transitioned from HIPAA version 4010 to version 5010.
